Gatehouses, Dunecht Estate.
Preservation and Restoration
The historic buildings were originally adorned with lime harling and lime wash, reflecting their timeless charm. Over time, however, these traditional elements had been replaced with cement. The restoration journey began with the careful removal of the inappropriate cement, unveiling the original beauty of the stonework. We employed the TORC system to delicately clean the aged surfaces.
Respecting the Elements
Located in a region known for its challenging climate, we prioritized durability. To endure the harsh winters, we chose Thermocromex lime render, known for its resilience against freezing temperatures.
Enhancing the Details
St Astier Hydraulic lime was used for the re-pointing work, subtly enhancing the exposed granite features, restoring the historic charm of these structures.
